Puppy adult-weight estimator

A rough adult weight range from your puppy's current age and weight. Useful for sizing crates, harnesses and food portions — not a prediction.

Estimated adult weight

How this works

Puppies of different sizes grow on different curves: small breeds finish growing near a year, while giant breeds keep filling out into their second year. We divide the current weight by the typical share of adult weight reached at that age, then show a ±15% range because individual variation is large.

Where it goes wrong

  • Mixed breeds can inherit either parent's growth pattern — if you're unsure, try both size groups and treat the spread as the honest answer.
  • A puppy who is currently over- or under-weight will produce a skewed estimate.
  • Growth is not steady week to week. One measurement is a snapshot, not a trend.

Better than a calculator

Your vet can assess body condition at routine visits and tell you whether growth is tracking healthily — which matters far more than the final number, especially for large and giant breeds where growing too fast carries joint risk.
