Safe
Can dogs eat strawberries?
Fresh strawberries are fine in small amounts; skip the syrup varieties.
Why
Fresh strawberries are safe and low in calories. Tinned or syrup-packed strawberries contain added sugars and sometimes sweeteners, so only fresh or plain frozen fruit is appropriate.
Portion guidance
One small strawberry for a small dog, two or three for a large dog, occasionally.
Preparation
Wash, remove the green top and cut into pieces sized to your dog.
Important warnings
Never feed anything sweetened, and always check that a 'sugar-free' product does not contain xylitol.
