Check your peanut butter label before you start: it must not contain xylitol (sometimes listed as birch sugar or E967), which is extremely dangerous to dogs. Use plain peanut butter with no added sweeteners, salt or chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 120g plain pumpkin purée
  • 2 tablespoons plain xylitol-free peanut butter
  • 150g plain oat flour
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the oven to 180°C / 350°F and line a tray.

  2. 2

Mix the pumpkin, peanut butter and egg until smooth.

  3. 3

Fold in the oat flour to make a soft dough.

  4. 4

Roll into small balls and flatten slightly on the tray.

  5. 5

Bake 20–25 minutes, then cool completely.

Serving guidance

One treat a day for most dogs; half for a small dog.

Safety notes

  • Peanut butter must be xylitol-free — check the label before every batch.
  • Use plain pumpkin, never spiced pie filling.
  • Higher in fat than the other recipes here; avoid for dogs prone to pancreatitis.
